Rev. William Nelson 
Senior Pastor

William P. (Buddy) Nelson was born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in Greenville, South Carolina and Birmingham, Alabama. Buddy is a graduate of Mountain Brook High School, Samford University, and Southern Seminary. He has served in the following churches: First Baptist Birmingham as youth minister, Liberty Baptist Church in Leitchfield, Kentucky as pastor, First Baptist Oxford, Alabama as pastor, Riverchase Baptist in Hoover, Alabama as pastor and has been at First Baptist McClellan since May of 2002.

Buddy, a pastor's son, married Becky Bowles of Texas, who happens to be a pastor's daughter. Together they have two children, Bill and Brook, and two wonderful granddaughters, Madelyn and Iva Grace.

Rev. Dean Pearce
Associate Pastor

Dean has served churches in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi.  Currently in fulltime vocational ministry, in the past, he has worked as a Paramedic and as a Registered Nurse.  He enjoys being with people of all ages and all backgrounds.  Serving others in their time of need is important.  God has blessed him with the opportunity to do that for over 30 years.  He is married to Lisa Ford Pearce and they have two grown daughters, Heather and Holly.  Dean also served here from 2004 - 2008.  We welcome him and his family back to our church home.

Randall Veazey
Worship Leader

Randall is an extremely talented musician and worship leader. He has served churches in the Music Ministry for many years. From Sanctuary choirs to traveling and recording, his abilities are diverse as well as seasoned. We are pleased to have Randall as a part of our staff. 

Matt Coby
Minister to Youth

With a passion and fire for Jesus, you will always see Matt with a smile on his face.

Matt is currently enrolled at JSU and is involved in JSU's Baptist Campus Ministries. He is married to the beautiful and talented Jessica Coby.

Jordan Fleming
Youth Minister Associate

Jordan recently joined our staff as a volunteer Youth Ministry Associate. He is a student at JSU.




Mrs. Susan Etzold
Part-Time Publications Secretary

Susan is our part-time Publications Secretary. Susan has extensive church office experience. Her bubbly personality and brilliant smile make her the perfect addition to our front office.

She and her husband Bobby have 4 children and 7 grandchildren.




Mrs. Jane Batey
Church Accompanist

Jane is our church accompanist and we enjoy her beautiful music during our worship services.  She also uses her wonderful musical talents to lead our adult handbell choir.

Jane and her husband Billy reside in Oxford.
